The main findings of this on-going tender study support the work of Global5G.org in its white paper on network densification for national regulatory authorities and policy makers across the European Union. Increasing harmonisation across Europe is key to speeding up the deployment of small area wireless access points (SAWAP), but must be acceptable to member states and capable of protecting people and the environment. Interactions focus on the potential of a light-touch regulation regime through the SAWAP concept defined by the European Electronic Communications Code (EECC). The tender study is exploring the implications of such an approach from operational, technical, environmental, legal and regulatory perspectives.
