His research interests have included the deployment of advanced multimedia services over next generation networks (i.e. 3G, 4G & 5G) and differentiated services for collaborative smart spaces (e.g. crowdsourced cognitive surplus for Public Protection and Disaster Relief scenarios).
He is currently leading a connected eHealth vertical use case as part of the H2020 5G-PPP SliceNet project (https://slicenet.eu/), where the focus is the design of QoS/QoE slicing technologies for vertically driven pre-hospital emergency services over next generation 5G networks.
Born in Belfast, Mark holds a first-class honours MBS in Entrepreneurship Management from the University of Limerick, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Innovation Management from NUI Galway. He has over twenty research publications, including two prize winning papers from his research in pervasive smart spaces, and the recently published IEEE paper “Enable Advanced QoS-Aware Network Slicing in 5G Networks for Slice-Based Media Use Cases”.
