5GCity: Mobile Backpack Unit for Real-time Transmission

Home » 5GCity: Mobile Backpack Unit for Real-time Transmission

This vertical application is studying how to provide Quality of Service (QoS) and guaranteed bandwidth allocation to the Mobile Backpack Unit (Real Time Transmission).

These backpacks are used by the Barcelona local broadcaster (BTV) for real-time transmission of content happening within the city. Key to realising the use case is the possibility to configure priority in the connection, maintain a high QoS for video quality, reduce end-to-end latency via 5G network.

In terms of 5G functionalities, 5GCity is investigating:

  • Core-Edge computing coordinated orchestration
  • High bandwidth 5G connections
  • High Reliability and Availability of the 5G network
  • Coverage scenarios: Urban Outdoor

Location: Barcelona, Spain

Dates: Q4-2018; Q2-2019; Q4-2019
